RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The remains of Hurricane Helene will continue to bring us a risk of some nasty weather through early this evening.  Over the weekend, the upper-level storm that will absorb what is left of Helene will drift to the east and bring us a risk of showers. A Tornado Watch remains in effect for the southern part of the state until 8pm Early this evening, we will still have the window for showers in the area and could develop some isolated severe storms.   The potential for these will start to wind down quickly after sunshine Overnight the skies will remain mostly cloudy in the area, and we will see the lows falling into the mid to upper 60s. Saturday will be a partly sunny day for the area.  We are in a region of “stable” air so there won’t be much in the way of a risk of showers.   However, it is going to be a hot and humid last Saturday of the month as our temperatures climb into the mid to upper 80s. Sunday into early next week, the upper-level system that is out over the Midwest will drift to the east and move over us. We will start to see a few showers and thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon from this system. Monday and Tuesday it will be more of the same, with showers and possible thunderstorms each day.  Wednesday afternoon, a cold front will push to the east and through the area.  Once this system moves out of the way, much cooler weather will move into the region for the end of the week. The James River is up to just below flood stage and while it will dip a bit for tomorrow, it is going to rise again on Sunday. This is not a weekend for activities on the river. In college football, UVA has the weekend off.  JMU and William & Mary are home, while UR is on the road at Elon.  Good looking, but humid weather for the games.
