Hanover man arrested for possession of child, animal sex abuse material

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Hanover County man was arrested on Friday for possession of child sex abuse material and sexual abuse materials related to animals.
According to the Hanover County Sheriff's Office, 31-year-old Scott Ryan Matthews of the Mechanicsville area is facing 11 felony charges following his arrest on Friday, Sept. 27.
On Tuesday, Sept. 24, Matthews originally reported that he was a victim of sextortion. According to the sheriff's office, investigators later found Matthews had both child sex abuse material and material of sexual abuse to animals. After this discovery, he was taken into custody.
Hanover investigators acquired ten felony warrants for possession of child sex abuse material and one felony warrant for possession of sexual abuse of animals.
