CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Lace up your sneakers and bring out the tinsel! The CarMax Tacky Light Run is returning to Chesterfield County in December with a new display and a slight change to its route. According to Sports Backers, the route has taken participants through tacky light displays in the Walton Park neighborhood in Chesterfield County since 2012. "Due to the overwhelming enthusiasm from residents, Sports Backers, the event organizer, will slightly alter the 2024 route to include a new jaw-dropping display, Coralview Road," said a spokesperson for Sports Backers. For the 2024 run, near the 2.5-mile mark, runners and walkers will take a left onto Coralview Road, skipping the usual route onto Dawnridge Court. Participants will see a synchronized light show timed to a holiday radio station and lights strung from house to house that will expand the entire street. Organizers said it plans to alternate between Dawnridge Court and Coralview Road each year to vary the route. To honor the run's 12th anniversary, Sports Backers said this year's participant gear and decor theme will be "12 Years of Tacky." Participants will receive a "commemorative ornament finisher medal" and their choice of either a knit hat or a t-shirt. Registration is open and prices will increase on Oct. 1, according to organizers. Folks can register at Sports Backers' website.
