MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A day after a jury delivered a guilty verdict for Justin Johnson, one of the men accused of killing rapper Young Dolph, musicians and producers who worked with the artist are opening up about the outcome. "I think what comes to mind was justice was served. That's the good thing about it," said DJ Squeeky, a Memphis producer who's produced tracks for Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, along with many more. He also worked with Young Dolph and he's pleased with the verdict. Justin Johnson found guilty in Young Dolph murder "I'm glad it (the verdict) happened so they can get it over with. Hopefully, we can move on in the future and remember Young Dolph as the person that we knew." he said. For friends and family of Young Dolph, they describe the past two years since his murder as difficult. "That's what it's been like unbelievable, everyone is still living a world of shock," said Grammy award-winning producer and engineer Lawrence "Boo" Mitchell, the co-owner of Royal Studios. He tells WREG he's also pleased with verdict, but says Young Dolph's murder is still both shocking and sad. Two years ago, Mitchell and his sister Oona Mitchell Bean produced a Memphis Grizzlies halftime show and Dolph had done a performance with them. He said Dolph was a superstar. "He was so influential and ahead of his time. I mean we still listen to his music and his flow, his energy and voice, it's just one of the things that made him a superstar," Mitchell said. Young Dolph’s sister, publicist respond to verdict Friends also say Dolph loved making music, loved taking care of his family and he never forgot his roots. "Dolph was a very down-to-earth person," DJ Squeeky said. "He enjoyed hanging out in his neighborhood every chance he got and then for me, it was exciting to be with someone who believed in the rap game and then they go platinum and gold and I was a part of that." and even though more suspects will be tried for the murder of Young Dolph, fans even on a rain-soaked day still sign their names on a makeshift memorial on Airways Boulevard, as those who knew him have hopes on how the man and his music are remembered. As for the other suspects in the case, Cornelius Smith will be in court Nov. 15 and Hernandez Govan will have a hearing Oct. 9. Jermarcus Johnson, who is Justin Johnson's half-brother, also has a court date for Oct. 9.
