Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida as a powerful Category 4 storm Thursday night and soaked the southeastern U.S. Friday. Remnants from the storm also brought heavy rain and gusty winds to Indiana on Friday. The storm system will stall across the Ohio Valley region and keep our weather conditions unsettled through the weekend. A Wind Advisory and a High Wind Warning will continue across the state through 1am Saturday and wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour will be likely through the evening. A heavier wave of rain and embedded thunderstorms will move across the southern half of the state and bring heavy downpours this evening. The combination of strong winds and heavy rain will likely lead to scattered power outages across the region tonight. Winds will ease after Midnight but conditions will remain breezy through Saturday. Rain will continue through the weekend but will be more widely scattered. Rain totals by Sunday will range from 1/2" to 1" north of I-70 and from 1" to 3" south of I-70. The remnant low will move east of the region Monday night. The rain will end and sunny skies will return to open October on Tuesday. This has been a mild month. Remnants of Helene soaked central Indiana Friday. A High Wind Warning and a Wind Advisory are in effect tonight. Expect a windy, wet Saturday. Expect a wet Sunday. The heaviest rain will fall south of I-70. Rain will continue through Monday.
