EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 19-year-old El Paso man is dead after speeding on a motorcycle and crashing Wednesday night, Sept. 18, in East El Paso, according to El Paso Police. EPPD: 1 person transported after motorcycle crash in East EP Police say they responded just before 9 p.m. that Wednesday to the 9200 block of Gateway East about a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle. The preliminary investigation revealed that Hugo Alexis Montiel-Sanchez, 19, was traveling eastbound on Gateway East on a motorcycle. Police say Montiel-Sanchez accelerated and began to travel at a high rate of speed for reasons unknown. The motorcycle then went to the left of the roadway and began to travel through the landscape. Montiel-Sanchez became dislodged from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries, police said. He was transported to a local hospital but died as a result of his injuries, police added. Police say speed is believed to be a contributing factor in this crash. This is the 45th traffic fatality in El Paso, compared to 55 at the same time in 2023.
