BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Auction day at the Kern County Fair can be a roller coaster for students. "My mom's like, 'It's so tasty and good, let's do it again.' And I'm like, 'oh no!'" said Addison Hutchinson" Naomi Raine to headline ‘Gospel Day’ at the 2024 Kern County Fair Saturday "Personally, I don't get used to it," said Jonathan Munoz. "It gets me every time. I know, I'm getting older and older, but it's just connection that gets me." A connection he's built with his big boy Canelo for months now. A bittersweet goodbye, as he's also showing for the last time. "Yes, it's really hard, especially since you spend day and night with them," said Munoz. Munoz is sponsored by Auction Angels, and so is Addison Hutchinson, who is showing the biggest lamb at the fair this year, Chris WoolDeux. "He's 171 lbs and the one like, really close to him, as in the second biggest is 161," said Addison Hutchinson. His loving personality can be seen as he doesn't leave Hutchinson's side for the whole length of the interview. A big boy not only full of love, but showered with it too. "Just a lot of feeding and some of it is mostly muscle, with running them, treadmilling them, and just keeping them in good shape," said Addison Hutchinson. In the end, the journey of raising livestock teaches students many different skills. "It's taught me how to keep a good open mind about what goes into the food on your plate," said Addison Hutchinson. Never miss a story: Make KGET.com your homepage "Great things take time. Take your time, don't rush it, and just spend time with them." said Jonathan Munoz, "Make it worth their time." You can donate to Auction Angels here to help make students' dreams come true and raise livestock.
