BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The California Department of Housing and Community Development gave over $3 million to the city of Arvin for street repairs Friday. After conducting multiple public outreach events, the city of Arvin determined the community's need for road and street construction was a priority. The funds received were from a 2023 application to the State CDBG non-entitlement competitive grant program. BPD seeks help identifying Dos Tacos robbery suspect City officials say Haven Drive is a main street, that intersects with multiple school zones, which was chosen as the road that will will be improved. Haven Drive will be repaved between Meyer Street and S Comanche Drive. Funding will also be used to improve sewer lines and connections, according to officials. “We are pleased to announce this grant award, which has been in process with HCD for over a year," said Arvin Mayor Daniel Borreli. "The bids and specs are ready to bid, and we will move forward with this project quickly now that we have the official award. We want residents to know that we hear their voices."
