COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) - The Furniture Bank of Central Ohio is getting ready for its annual race, all to raise money and help support local families in need. The organization's Bed Race event kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday for a fun and competitive contest. Teams of five twin beds on wheels will race down a 50-yard track at the White Oak Partners, located at 4960 E. Dublin Granville Rd. in Westerville. Not only is the race a time for the community to come together, but proceeds from the event will benefit those in need by providing essential furniture. This year, FBCO hopes to raise $75,000 to furnish 300 homes for families. Not only does the race declare the winner at the finish line, but participants also get creative by decorating their bed while wearing vibrant, colorful costumes. A parade will be held to show off costumes before the big races at 9:45. The event will also feature a family-friendly area for kids with activities, balloon artists, face painting, a live DJ and more.
