Possible human bone fragments were discovered lying on the shoreline near the Brooklyn Bridge Park carousel Thursday, cops said. A bystander spotted the pieces of bone lying on the shore near the DUMBO green space and alerted police around 12:43 p.m., cops said. Investigators from the city’s Medical Examiner’s Office are analyzing the bone fragments found in Brooklyn Bridge Park near Jane’s Carousel in DUMBO on Thursday. (Jeff Bachner/New York Daily News) The bone fragments were handed off to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for analysis, cops said. Last month, skeletal remains, including a human skull, were found along the same stretch of shoreline near the carousel on two occasions, Aug. 19 and Aug. 21. On Aug. 19, human skeletal remains — including a skull, above — were discovered on the rocks next to the popular carousel by 55 Water St. in Brooklyn Bridge Park. (Theodore Parisienne for New York Daily News) The remains were handed off to forensic anthropologists at the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the age, race and gender of the bones. A spokesperson for the medical examiner did not immediately respond to messages left seeking comment. The grisly discoveries were made just feet from Jane’s Carousel — built in 1922 and donated to the park in 2011 after years of restoration — and not far from the building housing the Time Out Market.
