Ebike charger malfunction may have caused Potomac house fire, $5K in damages

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Officials said one person was treated at the scene after a fire broke out at a home in Potomac overnight.
In a post on X, the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Department said around 2 a.m., crews were called to a home on Maidens Bower Court for a fire.

Mount Airy brewery destroyed by early morning fire
There, they learned that a person woke up to smoke inside the house. Officials said that the person then helped everyone escape.
Pete Piringer a spokesperson with the fire department said one adult was treated on the scene for a non-life-threatening injury.
He said the fire was accidental and may have started by the malfunction of an e-bike charger.
Piringer said the fire caused about $5,000 in damages.
