ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Fall colors are nearing their midpoint in much of New York State, but dramatic change has yet to come to the Finger Lakes Region. That's according to the third weekly I LOVE NY Fall Foliage Report of 2024. This week volunteers reported the most dramatic changes in Steuben County, where they spotted a 40 percent increase in bright reds, oranges, and yellows in Corning, Hammondsport, and Hornell. Rochester volunteers once again reported minimal changes, with a 10 percent shift toward olive and yellow leaves and more pronounced colors in the neighborhoods to the east and southwest. Brighton volunteers reported a smattering of dark red-maroon leaves, and a 15 to 20 percent increase in green-yellows. Wayne County volunteers reported a 20 percent change in Lyons, with pops of yellow and orange showing up closer to Lake Ontario. Livingston County also reported a 20 percent change this week, as yellows and oranges became more pronounced in Geneseo. Minimal changes were seen in Ontario County, with small pockets of maroons and yellows reported in Geneva and a less than 5 percent shift in Canandaigua. I LOVE NY's fall foliage reports are based on field reports from more than 85 volunteers across the state.
