WABAUNSEE COUNTY (KSNT) - On Friday the Wabaunsee County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) announced it had located a 12-year-old kidnapping victim in a suspect's vehicle.
On Thursday, the Wabaunsee County Sheriff's Office found a suspect vehicle on I-70 westbound near Paxico. The female suspect had allegedly kidnapped a child without permission from the mother from Warsaw, MO, according to the sheriff's office.
According to the WCSO, the child was unharmed and taken into police protective custody.
The 36-year-old suspect was arrested and is currently confined under warrants from the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
"We are extraordinarily grateful to the Alma City Marshal Mike Baker & our colleagues with the Kansas Highway Patrol, Missouri Highway Patrol, Kansas Juvenile Intake, Warsaw Missouri Police Department and the Benton County Missouri Sheriff's Office for the safe recovery of this child," the WCSO wrote in a press release.
