Initial damage assessments include more than 50 roads blocked by downed trees; 53K customers, 9 transmission lines, 6 substations, and 46 circuits are out. Leon County Government reported that County crews have been out in the community to clear roads so emergency response teams can safely and swiftly reach disaster survivors. Leon County Schools provided an update on their process to evaluate the impact of Helene on schools: Our disaster response teams will begin visiting schools to check for damage this morning. Once they report back, we will inform our principals about their findings. If given the OK, our principals will then visit their school to give a final inspection. The final count from our shelters was: 1853 people and 304 pets. There will be a lot of clean-up at those sites over the weekend.
