RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Better Business Bureau says it has received numerous complaints from people in Virginia and North Carolina using Business Over IP, alleging they have been without internet service for several weeks. The Better Business Bureau said many customers reported they were unable to reach the company via phone or email for repair updates. The nonprofit said those customers have still been charged even though they say they haven't had any service, and that they have been unable to cancel their accounts. According to the bureau, staff and customers visited the company's location and found packages left outside and no one answering the door, with the suite appearing to be empty. The bureau said it attempted to contact the business over the phone and through email but has not yet heard back. 8News has also reached out to the business and has not yet heard back. Due to these complaints, the Better Business Bureau said it encourages customers to file complaints with the Virginia State Corporation Commission and the Federal Communications Commission for additional help.
