FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River Police Chief Paul Gauvin will be stepping down.
In an announcement, officials said Gauvin will assume the Command of the Major Crimes Division.
“It has been an honor to serve the City of Fall River in this capacity,” said Gauvin. “However, after much reflection, I believe it’s time for change. I am proud of the progress we’ve made, but I recognize that it’s important to focus more on my family at this stage of my career.
According to a release, the decision comes after a series of discussions between the two leaders, both of whom agree it is time for a new direction within the Fall River Police Department.
“Chief Gauvin who has served the city with dedication and leadership is credited with guiding the agency through a challenging period,” states the release.
