It will be a very wet and windy Friday. Remnants from Helene will travel over the state today. This storm system stalls in the Ohio Valley region and leaves our weather conditions unsettled through the weekend. Rain in Indiana is coming in two waves today. The first has already moved into the state with steady, light rainfall in central Indiana. Winds have picked up and gusts early Friday morning are nearing 30 mph. This first wave will ease late morning into the early afternoon. The second wave is more impactful and will bring the potential for heavy downpours late in the afternoon and evening. While the rain will be scattered this evening, the wind will remain the big story. A High Wind Warning and Wind Advisory have been issued for our area. Both go in effect at noon today and last through the evening. Wind gusts in excess of 60 mph are possible. We could see numerous power outages due to these strong wind gusts. Be mindful of the potential of fallen tree limbs, loose objects blowing around and difficult driving conditions. Winds will ease tonight but conditions will remain breezy Saturday. Rain chances continue through the weekend but will be more widely scattered with off and on showers. Overall, totals by Sunday could range from 1/2" to near 3" with lighter totals to the north and heavier to the south. We keep rain chances around for the first couple days next week but will get into quieter, dry conditions by midweek.
