1 dead, 1 with lifethreatening injuries after tree falls on home in North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is dead and another suffered life-threatening injuries after a tree fell on a home just north of Uptown, authorities said Friday morning.
The Charlotte Fire Department said that at around 5:11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, crews responded to the incident near 4200 Brookway Drive.

Medic said one person was found dead at the scene and another was rescued and transported to an area medical center with life-threatening injuries. Children who were in the home at the time of the incident were unharmed, Charlotte Fire said.
Hurricane Helene moved through the Charlotte area overnight and has since been downgraded to a tropical storm.
