A jury convicted a Trenton man for the attempted murder of a 38-year-old Trenton man on July 16, 2022. Henry Hutchinson, 40, was found guilty on September 25 of attempted murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun, and certain persons not to possess a firearm. On July 16, 2022, at 11 p.m., Hutchinson shot the victim twice on Chambers Street in Trenton. He then shot the victim a third time while the victim was on the ground. The shooting left the victim as a paraplegic. Police arrested Hutchinson on July 18, 2022, and recovered the Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver used in the incident. The trial lasted two weeks in Mercer County Superior Court. The state was represented by Assistant Prosecutors Michael J. Mennuti and Jeffrey C. McElwee Jr. Louis Mangione, Esq. represented Hutchinson. Sentencing is scheduled for December 4. Hutchinson faces a potential life sentence under New Jersey’s “Three Strikes Law.”
