FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The lone resident of a home on Fort Wayne's near southwest side was able to get out safely when a fire started early Friday morning. Fire crews were called to the home in the 3200 block of Dinnen Avenue at 4:45 a.m. When they arrived, smoke and fire could be seen coming out the front door. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire which started in the kitchen. Firefighters searched the home and determined no one else was inside. However they did find three cats, of which one had perished in the fire. No one was injured and the cause has not yet been determined according to the news release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department.
