NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford fire officials said they responded to a house fire yesterday morning. It happened around 9 a.m. when a neighbor called 911 after hearing activated fire alarms sounding from this one-family residence. According to officials, first arriving firefighters found smoke extending from the rear of residence and forced entry. A dog and several cats were able to escape to safety once firefighters entered the home and returned to their family. The fire was confined to the kitchen area. The fire was investigated and was determined to be accidental. No injuries were reported. “This incident again highlights how important having working fire alarms installed in your home is,” said the department in a statement. Categories: News
