MEMPHIS, Tenn -- A convicted felon was arrested after leading police on a foot chase in South Memphis on Tuesday. Tyrone Williams, 27, is charged with Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun, Evading Arrest on Foot, and Obstructing the Highway/Passageway. Tyrone Williams_mugshot (SCSO) On Sept. 24 at 3:37 p.m., police observed a man riding his bicycle in the middle of the street at Wellington Street near Person Avenue. Police say he was not wearing a helmet and was impeding traffic flow. They recognized him as Tyrone Williams when they approached him. According to police, they knew that he had warrants for Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun, Attempted Second Degree Murder, and Petition to Revoke a Suspended Sentence. MPD officer shoots, kills dog after being attacked At that time, Williams dropped his bike and ran away from officers. A foot chase was then initiated. Shortly afterward, officers say they were able to catch Williams and take him into custody. He also had a handgun with him. Tyrone Williams will appear in court on Thursday morning. He is being held in jail on a $100,000 bond.
