IDENTIFIED: Man killed in DUI crash involving Selma city worker, police say

SELMA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The pedestrian killed in a DUI hit-and-run crash in Selma involving a city worker was identified by the Selma Police Department on Tuesday night.
Officers say they responded to Floral Avenue and Wright Street in Selma for a reported traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Sept. 20 at around 8:15 p.m.
Upon arrival, police say they located a man suffering from life-threatening injuries, consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle. The man, identified as Robert Leeper of Selma, later succumbed to his injuries.

While on the scene, officers say they were able to generate information that led them to the location of the involved suspect and his vehicle, which had fled the original collision scene. It was determined the driver, identified as 39-year-old Roberto Ramos, was under the influence. He was found and arrested in connection with the case.
According to police, it was determined during the booking process that Ramos was an employee of the City of Selma's Public Works Departments. He was not working at the time of the collision and was in his personal vehicle. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run resulting in death, DUI, and several other charges.
