SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - There are over 98,000 food-insecure people in western Massachusetts. In Springfield, volunteers at Rachel's Table were recognized and appreciated for their work in helping to reduce that need. About 350 volunteers were honored at Sinai Temple for alleviating hunger, reducing waste, and growing food. From July 2023 to June 2024, Rachel's Table volunteers delivered over 830 thousand pounds of food, throughout the area. "A lot of it is in the car in the vans of volunteers so they are the superpowers, they are our superpower to help food insecurity in our region," said Executive Director for Rachel's Table of western Massachusetts, Jodi Falk.
