HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV)—The Houston County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) is asking for the public's help in identifying a driver who could have information about the vehicle that struck and killed a Bluffton cyclist. On Sept. 19, HCSO's Traffic Division responded to Pyles Road where Phillip Clifford was struck by an unknown vehicle, HCSO said. Clifford is a 68-year-old man from Bluffton, S.C. HCSO said that video footage showed Clifford traveling east on Pyles Road at approximately 8:07 a.m. and a minute later, a newer model white four-door pickup was spotted traveling in the same direction. The truck was pulling a double-axle trailer and appears to be a newer Ford 4x4 F-250 or F-350, a newer 4x4 Cheverolet or GMC 2500 or 3500, HCSO said. They also said that the truck has a black step at the front of the pickup bed behind the rear door. Macon man arrested for Tattnall armed robbery, sheriff says The HCSO said that they need the public's help finding the driver of this truck since they may have information to help them identity who and what struck Clifford. Anyone with information regarding this hit-and-run traffic collision should contact the HCSO's Traffic Division at 478-542-2080.
