MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Memphis Area Transit Authority Board of Commissioners approved cutting multiple bus routes as part of their fall service changes.
On Tuesday, MATA announced a number of changes that would "optimize and manage budget constraints."
The biggest being their decision to reduce their bus routes from 23 to 18, effective November 3.
These are the routes that will be discontinued:
Route 16 Southeast Circulator
Route 28 Airport
Route 34 Central & Walnut Grove
Route 37 Perkins
Route 69 Winchester
Zone 3 Cordova Ready! On-Demand
According to MATA, the routes selected to be discontinued were based on current ridership, available funding and community feedback.
MATA also announced that they will implement 60-minute frequencies on all remaining routes, operating Monday through Saturday until 7:00 p.m. and Sundays until 6:00 p.m.
