Elk Avenue: A stroll through time in Crested Butte
Sep 24, 2024
(GUNNISON COUNTY, Colo.) — As you stroll down Elk Avenue in the heart of Crested Butte, you'll find yourself transported back to when the Colorado was part of the Old West.
Several iconic buildings on Elk Avenue have stood since the American Frontier, including the museum which was built in 1883 and began as a hardware store. As Crested Butte grew and evolved, the history remained, along with the small-town feel.
