One dead after Cap Metro bus, motorcycle collision in north Austin Austin-Travis County EMS said paramedics took a second person to Seton Medical Center with minor injuries. 'Chaos on the road' The crash happened at an intersection that concerns neighbors. The police tape and flashing lights aren't a new site for people who live near the intersection. "Just a lot of chaos on the road, like some honking. Seems to be quite a few close calls," said Marilyn Pillow. TxDOT said it plans to install more speed limit signs for this section of westbound US 290 at RM 2222/Koenig Lane. They haven't realized, 'Oh, this is residential now.' They're still coming off the highway," said Tasca Shadix. The concerns prompted Shadix and others to contact both city and state officials to ask for additional safety measures, like signs that show what a driver's speed limit is. "Certainly better signage and maybe some more law enforcement presence for a while," Shadix said. Up until now, Shadix said nothing seemed to change. KXAN reached out to the Texas Department of Transportation about the situation. "Improvements planned for this section of westbound US 290 at RM 2222/Koenig Lane include overhead signs that warn drivers of a traffic signal ahead and to be prepared to stop. TxDOT also plans to install two new, larger speed limit signs (35 mph) in this area. I don’t have a timeline for installation." TxDOT Spokesperson Shadiz said this is a step that will give her peace of mind as her teen starts driving. "I don't have to worry every time she basically leaves our neighborhood that she's going to get T-boned by somebody coming off the highway," Shadix said.
