Update at 3:55 p.m. on 9-24-24: NYSP say that around 8:13 a.m., they were called to the scene of an accident -- near Exit 41 on the Thruway -- involving two box trucks. The investigation shows that one box truck, driven by a 42-year-old hit another box truck, driven by a 39-year-old, from behind. This caused the 42-year-old's truck to go off the south shoulder and overturn. As for the 39-year-old's, it went off the north shoulder and hit a guardrail. The 42-year-old was taken to Upstate Hospital for minor injuries, and the 39-year-old was taken for serious injuries. NYSP were assisted by the Thruway Authority, North Seneca Ambulance, Lifenet and Tyre Fire Department. No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing. According to the thruway authority, between Exit 40 (Weedsport/Auburn) and Exit 41 (Waterloo Clyde), all roads have been blocked off. Anyone driving on the thruway will be rerouted off via Exit 41. It is strongly advised that you avoid the area.
