KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs have officially elevated running back Kareem Hunt to their 53-man roster on Tuesday, according to reports. Hunt is set to play his first game in a Chiefs uniform since 2018, when he was released from the team. Patrick Mahomes critical of his play to start season; explains Travis Kelce’s slow start It's a full circle moment for Hunt, who will look to provide some added production during Isiah Pacheco's absence due to a fractured fibula. In addition to Hunt being elevated to the active roster, RB Keaontay Ingram was waived. The Chiefs running back room now includes Hunt, Carson Steele and Samaje Perine. Steele received a bulk of the workload last week against the Atlanta Falcons, finishing with 17 carries for 72 yards. Last season, Hunt finished with 411 yards on 135 carries and nine touchdowns. It will be interesting to see the amount of carries Hunt is given, considering his familiarity with Andy Reid's offense. The Chiefs will be on the road to face what could be a depleted Los Angeles Chargers team this Sunday. Starting safety Derwin James was suspended one game for repeat violations of the NFL’s safety rules. They could also be without QB Justin Herbert (ankle) and starting offensive tackles Joe Alt (MCL) and Rashawn Slater(pectoral). Kickoff will be at 3:25 P.M.
