JUNCTION CITY (KSNT)- One elementary school in northeast Kansas received national recognition for its academic achievement. The U.S. Department of Education announced Monday that Lincoln Elementary School is one of four elementary schools in Kansas to be named a National Blue Ribbon school. This year, the department recognized 365 schools nationwide for this honor. This award recognizes schools who excel academically, or strive to close achievement gaps between students. “Being named a National Blue Ribbon School is a tremendous honor. This recognition stands as a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, and families. It highlights our unwavering commitment to academic excellence and to creating an environment where every student can thrive,” Daniel Dinkel, Lincoln Elementary principal said. The other Kansas schools to be named a National Blue Ribbon School were Garfield Elementary School, USD 402 in Augusta, KS, Herington Elementary School, USD 487 in Herington Schools and Sunflower Elementary School in Paola, KS. Virtual job fair open to all Kansans coming soon Geary County Schools has received a total of 12 awards in its history. Schools are recognized based on two categories, exemplary high performing schools, and exemplary achievement gap closing schools. National Blue Ribbon schools serve as a model of high standards.
