SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Former President Donald Trump visited Savannah on Tuesday, just over a week after a second assassination attempt on him.
Security was top of mind for his Hostess City trip as evidenced by the law enforcement presence downtown.
The Savannah Police Department, Georgia State Patrol and Georgia Southern Police Department were on hand in addition to U.S. Army snipers and the Secret Service.

Group of Democrats protest Trump’s Savannah stop
One woman who was on stage with Trump during his remarks at the Johnny Mercer Theatre said she felt nothing but safe.
"From the time we got here this morning, we noticed law enforcement everywhere and then every step we took it seemed like there was metal detectors and law enforcement, Secret security, deputies, military, so it was heavily guarded I feel like."
In Washington, lawmakers are rushing to figure out exactly what might help to ensure that the Secret Service has enough money and resources to keep the nation's presidential candidates safe.
