Miners girls tennis heading to regional tournament WednesdayThe Miners girls tennis squad will head to their regional tournament in Midvale Wednesday and Thursday. The team enters the tournament 4-1, with their regular season finale last Thursday still with no score reported. Mia Jamrich, Maddie Limback and Agi Salazar have starred for the Miners this season at the one singles, two singles and one doubles positions. The state tournament will begin Oct. 10 at Brighton and run through Oct. 12. Miners boys golf heading to Riverbend match WednesdayThe Miners boys golf squad will head to their Riverbend match Wednesday. The team is undefeated in five regular-season matches, dominating each one. Park City leads second place Stansbury by 123 strokes through those five matches. Including the Riverbend match, the Miners have three regular-season matches remaining. The team will look to win out and build momentum toward the state tournament, which is Oct. 16 and 17 at Meadow Brook Golf Club in Taylorsville. Wasatch football falls to Maple Mountain FridayThe Wasatch football squad fell to Maple Mountain Friday 28-14 on the road. The loss is Wasatch’s fourth in a row, dropping them to 1-5. The team will next face Springville Friday at 7 p.m., again on the road. Springville is 4-2 and one spot above Wasatch in the region standings. Wasatch will need quarterback Joseph Bradley to have another big game to get the win; Friday Bradley had 123 yards through the air and 93 on the ground in the team’s loss. South Summit football gets dropped by Layton Christian Academy FridayLayton Christian Academy dropped the South Summit football squad Friday 45-14 on the road. The game was the second of a two-game road trip, the first of which was South Summit’s first win of the season, against Grand County. The team is facing Summit Academy, who are 2-4, this Friday at 7 p.m. at home. The Summit Academy game is South Summit’s fourth to last this regular season, with their home regular season finale Oct. 11 against Judge Memorial Catholic. North Summit football defeats Gunnison Valley to remain unbeaten FridayNorth Summit football defeated Gunnison Valley 41-14 at home Friday to remain undefeated (6-0). North Summit will next face Beaver, who is also 6-0, this Friday at 7 p.m., again at home. The Beaver game will be North Summit’s final non-region game out of six this season. Including Beaver, North Summit has four regular-season games remaining, including their home regular-season finale Oct. 11.
