CHARLES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Department of Health's (VDH) Charles City Health Department is hosting an event to celebrate the reopening of its facility. Staff will walk guests through a guided tour of the renovated facility during the event, which will also feature food, family-friendly activities, prizes and free flu vaccines. The flu vaccines are available for free for anyone between the ages of 6 months and 64 years old. Anyone interested in getting a vaccine must register for an appointment ahead of time and anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. High-dose flu vaccines will be available to people aged 65 or older, but they must bring a photo ID and a health insurance card. An appointment for a high-dose vaccine can be made by calling the Charles City Health Department at 804-829-2490. The event will take place at the Charles City Health Department, located at 7501 Adkins Road, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
