OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Oklahoma City firefighters battled an early morning house fire in northeast OKC that they believe started after a vehicle went up in flames. "It's could've went real bad here. Real quick," said Glenn Briskey, who owns the home two doors down. Burned wood, insulation, and personal belongings lay in front of a rental home near NE 10th Street and Standish, after an early morning house fire. A truck's car seats and tires were destroyed and glass was scattered in the driveway. OKC firefighters said the call came in around 2:45 a.m. "They were woken up by the sound of fire, I think glass shattering in the front room," said Batt. Chief Kyle Durham, with the OKCFD. "The homeowner and son, they were both able to make it out of the house and call 911 from a neighbors house." While News 4 was on scene, we learned this is a rental house. The owners, who live in Colorado, sent their brother to take pictures of the damage. Firefighters on scene said the truck caught fire then spread to the home. Emergency crews work to put out fire at tank battery "The vehicles, with new technology and stuff, a short can happen in an instant. A split second," said Briskey. "We came by here yesterday, it was fine. There wasn't nothing wrong with it," said Briskey. On Tuesday morning, Briskey came back by to get some work done on the home and was shocked to find the damage to the neighboring home. "Luckily we got that rain," said Briskey. "They wouldn't have had no fighting battle." Briskey's just thankful no one was hurt. "It's always a devastation when a house burns, specially with a family in it Just glad they got out. That's the main thing," said Briskey. Firefighters said they believe about half the home sustained serious damage.
