NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office detective was injured during a vehicle pursuit that led to a crash in New Orleans on Tuesday, Sept. 24. The New Orleans Police Department reported that a pursuit was initiated by the SBSO and ended at the intersection of Hillwood Street and Read Boulevard in New Orleans East. Judge overseeing case for former New Orleans priest recuses himself, trial delayed The SBSO reported that detectives saw a Chevrolet pickup truck that was wanted in connection with a burglary and robbery investigation in the 1900 block of Goodwill Street in Poydras. NOPD officials said the SBSO then asked for their assistance. According to the SBSO, NOPD officers tried to pull over the truck for a traffic stop near Read Boulevard and Hillwood Street in New Orleans East. Taylor then allegedly hit an unmarked SBSO unit head-on before hitting an empty slab. Taylor and two passengers, identified as 17-year-old Perrion Bailey and 21-year-old Danny Lumar, were taken into custody by the NOPD. New Orleans police search for teen accused of escaping Juvenile Justice Intervention Center According to the SBSO, Taylor, Bailey and Lumar "were booked on outstanding warrants for armed robbery and aggravated burglary out of St. Bernard." SBSO officials said additional charges are pending. One St. Bernard Parish deputy was taken to a hospital for treatment and was last reported to be in stable condition.
