(WGNO) — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a man over the weekend who allegedly robbed a Covington store at gunpoint. Deputies report that at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, they were called to the scene of an armed robbery at a cellphone store on Louisiana Highway 190 near Covington. A search warrant was issued to search his home where deputies said they found the items taken from the store. Jefferson Parish now eligible for FEMA assistance in wake of Hurricane Francine Julian was arrested and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail as a fugitive from St. Tammany Parish on charges of possession of stolen property. Once transported to St. Tammany Parish, Julian will be booked on a charge of armed robbery.
