LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued of most of the ABC 36 viewing area until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24th. Scattered damaging wind gusts upwards of 60-70 mph will be the primary threat, with isolated large hail up to ping pong ball size (1.5 inches) will also be possible. The tornado threat is low, but not zero. Rotating storms capable of producing a few quick spin-up tornadoes will be possible. Reminder: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms to form. Stay “Weather Aware” and remain alert for severe thunderstorm warnings Tuesday afternoon and early evening.
