MOLOKAI, Hawaii (KHON2) -- The Maui Fire Department is battling a large brushfire on Molokai, near the airport, as MPD alerted residents of the fire.

MPD said there are no mandatory evacuations at this time.
The fire was reported at 10:30 a.m. around Naiwa Street and roads near the airport were closed and are subject to change, according to Maui County.
Multiple fire units are at the scene with Air 1 and Air 2, Airport Fire and Public Works also assisting.
Maui County said one structure and one vehicle were consumed by the fire.
The airport road is closed but the airport is operational, according to DOT.
Winds are 16 mph from the east.
