APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - From Sept. 23 until 29, the Fox Cities is emphasizing the importance of Diaper Need Awareness Week, and with that comes a new partnership between local organizations. United Way Fox Cities (UWFC) and Jake's Network of Hope teamed up, unifying their Diaper Banks under one location, which will help serve families across Eastern Wisconsin. The new co-op Diaper Bank is now known as the Kimberly Clark Eastern Wisconsin Diaper Bank. Local organizations gather to host 13th Annual Brown County Diaper Drive "You can call 211, which is a United Way program that will connect the dots with an agency in the area of that family," Scott Sawinski, Executive Director of Jake’s Network of Hope said. "They can then work with that agency to let them know how many they need, and they'll request diapers from our bank and we'll provide them to the families in need." According to a release, the partnership will aid in pooling together resources and expertise, allowing for the ability to meet the needs of local families. The 2023 Diaper Check found that 47% of families are struggling to afford diapers. Childcare providers often require a day's supply of disposable diapers, thus, causing about a quarter of families with children to miss multiple days of work per month because they can't afford enough diapers.
