GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - With the help of a couple of its players, the Green Bay Packers, teamed up with Bellin Health and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation to kick off year No. 8 of the Packers vs. Cancer initiative on Tuesday. Offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins helped launch the campaign at the event, which was hosted at the Bellin Health Cancer Team in Green Bay. The event featured a presentation reviewing the campaign's success in the past several years, along with introducing new elements. Xavier McKinney justifies Packers’ investment by getting 3 INTs in 1st 3 games with Green Bay Jenkins spoke about how cancer has impacted his loved ones while emphasizing the meaning and importance of the campaign. "To continue the fight against cancer is very important to me," Jenkins said. "It's important to me to use my platform to shed light on the work people are doing to prevent and find a cure for this devastating disease." A facility tour followed the press conference, with defensive back Jaire Alexander joining up with his teammate and the group. Alexander also talked about being there to spread awareness, as cancer has impacted his family. "My grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago, but by the Grace of God, she made it through, I'm here to spread awareness," Alexander said. The campaign will also be recognized on Sunday as the Packers host the Vikings at Lambeau Field. Fans in attendance will also receive a 'Packers vs. Cancer' rally towel, as the game incorporates elements to honor cancer survivors and loved ones.
