AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — Nik McMillan, a former Canisius High School football standout and one of the University at Buffalo's top returning players on offense, will have season-ending surgery on his left knee, UB coach Pete Lembo said Tuesday. McMillan, in his redshirt sophomore year, caught five passes for 76 yards and touchdown in UB's opening win against Lafayette before getting hurt late in the loss at Missouri the following week. McMillan was the leading receiver back from a year ago, when McMillan had 13 receptions for 180 yards and a touchdown in seven games before sustaining a season-ending injury. "We’ve been doing the prehab stuff with him and obviously keeping close taps on him in terms of his academics and making sure he has all the support he needs," Lembo said. "And he’s handling it quite well. We’re thinking about him." Lembo said that tight end Jake Orlando (Williamsville North) could return for Saturday's game at UConn after he missed the win at Northern Illinois with a foot injury.
