BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The cost of garbage and recycling services in the city of Zachary is increasing. According to a social media post, Zachary residents can expect to see a $1.95 increase on their monthly garbage and recycling collection bill. Some senior citizens can see an increase of $0.88 on their bill. The Zachary City Council approved the adjustment on Aug. 27 and have taken effect on Sept. 18. The increase comes from the rising costs of Waste Management, which holds the contract for curbside garbage, solid waste and recycling services in the city limits of Zachary. Pickup will continue twice a week, according to the post.
