Tehachapi Police to host Bike Rodeo Safety Event with free helmets

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Tehachapi Police Department, in partnership with the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and park District (TVRPD), is gearing up for a Bike Rodeo Safety Event on Thursday, at Ollie Mountain Sports Park.
Families are invited to bring their children on Oct. 3, for a fun-filled evening, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. that includes a bike safety course led by TPD and the California Highway Patrol.
Kern Literacy Council Donates book vending machine to Children’s Visitation center
Kids can receive free helmets, and participants from the Miss Tehachapi Pageant will be offering face painting.
Local businesses are also joining the festivities. Cycle and Go Cyclery will provide bike safety checks and helmet adjustments, and TVRPD will host a bike-themed crafting booth.
For those feeling hungry, the California Hot Dog Company will be selling food.

"We're excited to give away bike helmets to the kids who come out," said said Tehachapi Police Chief Richard Standridge. "Bring your little ones, get a brand new certified-safe bike helmet, and just come hang out with your local PD."
