BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A 21-year-old man who faced a child pornography charge has pleaded no contest to a lesser offense, according to court records. Austin Brodsly pleaded no contest Tuesday to a misdemeanor count of advertising obscene matter. A charge of possession of child pornography was dismissed. Prosecutors say he'll be placed on misdemeanor probation and have to serve 300 hours of community service and complete 48 sex offender treatment counseling sessions. His electronic devices will be subject to search. Brodsly was 17 at the time he received the illicit materials, prosecutors say, and 19 when authorities discovered them. A total of four video clips were recovered. "Due to his age, background, and prospects, our office believes this was a fair resolution to the case," District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Daniela Gonzaga said. An investigator who viewed two videos uploaded to an account linked to Brodsly wrote in court documents that a different girl was in each video, and both were between 8 to 10. On the morning of May 30, 2023, police served a warrant at Brodsly’s home on Prescott Forest Court in northwest Bakersfield. Brodsly told police he received pornographic material but didn’t believe it involved minors, according to the documents. He also said he sent pornography through Snapchat and the chatting app Discord, documents said.
