Two free U.S. Census Bureau workshops are coming up in October at Morley Library, presented in partnership with the Downtown Painesville Organization. “Census Data for Your Business” will take place 9 to 10 a.m. Oct. 1 for those looking for data to help start or grow a business or understand the business landscape for a region, according to a news release. The Census Business Builder provides easy access to information about the residents and businesses to help one open or expand their business. The tool presents key information that entrepreneurs and small business owners need to better understand their market, the release stated. This workshop will start with an introduction to the Census Business Builder to help attendees become familiar with the many different types of demographic and economic data contained in it. This will be followed by a live demonstration of the key features and functionalities of the Census Business Builder. The goal is to familiarize attendees with the Census Business Builder so that they can use it to research their own business, according to the release. Then, “Census Data for Grant Writing” will be held 9 to 10 a.m. Oct. 2. Census Bureau data provides key indicators and data points for inclusion in a grant proposal, and this presentation will show attendees how they can use free census data and online tools to get demographic and economic data for grant writing. Attendees will learn about the surveys that can help them to obtain community level detail; Decennial Census, American Community Survey, Economic Census and others, according to the release. People will also learn about the various census data tools used to access census data. Register at www.morleylibrary.org or call 440-352-3383.
