ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A number of Rochester-area colleges and universities celebrated the release of US News & World Report's 2025 Best University Rankings Tuesday. The annual list ranks colleges based on their cost, reputation, return on investment, and more. The University of Rochester tied for number 44 in the 2025 list of Best National Universities. It also ranked 27th on the list of Best Value Schools. The Rochester Institute of Technology also placed on the national list, coming in at number 91 this year. RIT ranked 41st on the list of Best Value Schools. Rochester-area colleges were well represented on the list of Best Regional Universities North. SUNY Geneseo came in tied at number 13, also ranking fourth in Top Public Schools and 38th in Best Value Schools. Ithaca College tied for 15th, landing at number 16 on the list of Best Value Schools. Nazareth University is ranked 44th on the regional list, up 10 spots from the previous rankings. Nazareth was also recognized as number 33 on the list of Best Value Schools, and tied at 507th on the list of best schools for nursing. SUNY Brockport tied for 55th on the regional list, up nine spots from last year and 28 spots total since 2020. It also came in at number 21 on the list of Top Public Schools, and 43rd on the list of Best Value Schools.
