FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The old Fresno County Coroner's Office burned Tuesday morning. Fire crews responded to the abandoned morgue around 7:30 a.m. near Nielson and Highway 99. According to the Fresno Fire Department, crews on the scene were concerned that the building was going to collapse so they took a defensive approach to fighting the fire. Officials revealed that there have been "multiple fires here in the past." The column of smoke that came from the fire was enough to be seen from nearby Highway 99 causing a distraction for passing drivers. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
