Live music will add to the visuals during this month’s Last Friday Gallery Stroll hosted by the Park City Gallery Association and the Arts Council of Park City & Summit County. The event, fittingly known as the Art & Music Gallery Stroll, will run from 6-9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 27.“We have nine galleries who will showcase music,” said Arts Council Executive Director Jocelyn Scudder. Those galleries and the musicians are: CREATE PC, 1500 Kearns Blvd. F110 — Beacon Street Jazz (see accompanying story). David Beavis Fine Arts, 314 Main St. — Debra Fotheringham Gallery MAR, 436 Main St. — Chrome Street Meyer Gallery, 305 Main St. — Kate Chanson Mountain Trails, 301 Main St. — Ben Weiss JG Art Gallery + Events at The Prospect, 2078 Prospector Ave. — Aspen Anonda Summit Gallery, 825 Main St. — TJ Gurn Susan Swartz Studios, 260 Main St. — Karlie McKinnon Trove Gallery, 804 Main St. — 2 Book TrilogyJG Art Gallery + Events at the Prospect and CREATE PC are the participating galleries in this free event who are located off Main, Scudder said.“What we recommend is for people to patronize those off-Main galleries because they tend to have less traffic,” she said. “Maybe hit them first, go to dinner and then visit the Main Street galleries. Make a night of it.”Another nonprofit, Mountain Town Music, led by Brian Richards, pairs musicians with the galleries, said Jen Schumacher, Park City Gallery Association’s co-president.“Brian Richards is awesome,” she said. “He goes into the galleries and gets a feel of what they’re about and what they need, and then he goes through a list of musicians and bands he has worked with over the years, and he selects who will fit where.”Smaller spaces may feature a singer-songwriter, while larger spaces may showcase a three- to four-piece band, Scudder said.“Brian has such an incredible finger on the pulse of the local music scene, and he knows the gallery owners, their tastes and their needs,” she said.Chrome Street is one of the musical artists who will perform during the Last Friday Art & Music Gallery Stroll. And the direct benefits are that we’re directing money to local performing artists and we’re bringing more people into these galleries and building new collectors and introducing them to art.”The Art & Music Gallery Stroll has also opened the doors to other programs, Scudder said.“Because of the stroll’s success, the association has been able to do a Chocolate Lovers Stroll and a Progressive Bouquet Stroll,” she said. The idea for those events were discussed during the Park City Gallery Association’s annual meeting, Schumacher said.“Every time we hold those meetings, we want people to come in with ideas,” she said. The Park City Gallery Association, which supports its members through promotion, advertising and other services, makes it a point to seek out new gallery owners throughout the year, according to Schumacher.“While we pursue new galleries, we also invite anyone who is new in town to look us up,” she said. Art and Music Gallery StrollWhen: 6-9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 27 Cost: Free Where: Various galleries Web: pcscarts.org/art-music-gallery-stroll and parkcitygalleryassociation.com/art-music-gallery-strollsThe post Live music provides a soundtrack to this month’s Gallery Stroll appeared first on Park Record.
