BARRINGTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Office of the State Medical Examiners have determined that the human skeletal remains found on Elm Lane in Barrington are at least 75 to 100 years old. The Barrington Police Department said that human skeletal remains were found on Elm Lane on Sept. 19. The department received a report from contractor about possible human remains being found on a job site. According to a representative from the Rhode Island Department of Health, the remains that were found are consistent with an old historic burial site. The Office for the State Medical Examiners consulted with an archeologist on this determination, according to the representative. “Should we need it, we also have a forensic anthropologist available to us when human bones are unearthed,” they said. “The site is consistent with a historical burial site but that would require archeological confirmation to make a determination,” they continued.
